Hailed by The New York Times as "an especially impressive, fine young pianist" and by the San Antonio Express-News as "a musician with something to say, the skill to say it and the magnetic power to make you want to listen," Richard Dowling appears regularly across the United States in solo recitals and concerts with orchestras.   An artist of rising international stature, Mr. Dowling has performed in the Far East, Australia, Africa and Europe.   In the United States, he as received nationwide attention for recitals seen on the PBS television program Performance Today.   He lives in New York City but will be touring Oklahoma under the sponsorship of the Piatigorsky Foundation, a non-profit group that brings live classical music to small communities.   We are fortunate to have been able to book him in Tulsa on a day that he will not be performing for that Foundation.

Mr. Dowling has recorded two ragtime CDs: Worlds Greatest Rags: Richard Dowling Plays Ragtime and Rhapsody in Ragtime.   After several years performing as a classical pianist who composed a rag or two for fun, he officially added the ragtime world to his billing this past summer as a featured performer at Sedalia, Missouri's Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival.   He will return to Sedalia in June 2008.   Following the Scott Joplin Festival, he will join Canadian ragtime artist Mimi Blais in Versailles, Missouri, for solo and duo concert performances of classical and ragtime music.

In 1998, Mr. Dowling celebrated the centennial of George Gershwin's birth by performing Gershwin's complete solo and orchestral works for piano.   Reviewing Dowling's 2001 Sweet and Low-Down CD, American Record Guide commented, "Dowling dances through 29 Gershwin numbers with exuberance and a natural feel for rubato.   He plays with what Gershwin called the stenciled style - fast, upbeat, and snappy...   If you love Gershwin, don't miss this!"
