Emily Sprague is 13 years old, currently attending eighth grade at John Burrough's School in St. Louis, Missouri. She has been playing the piano for about seven years and she is a student of Dr. Jennifer Lim. Emily has been a first place winner of many piano competitions including the state-wide auditions by the Missouri Music Teachers' Association (1997, 1999, 2000, and 2001), the St. Louis Ragtime Piano competition (1999 and 2000), the Beethoven Society's Young Pianist competition in Illinois (1999) and concerto competition by Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra in Illinois in 2001. In addition, Emily has performed for Friends of Music concert series (Kirkwood, Missouri), Rolla Music Teachers Association, St. Louis Ragtime Association, St. Louis Symphony Open House, Scott Joplin Festival (Sedalia, Missouri). Last October, Emily performed Mozart's Concerto No. 23 with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Belleville, Illinois. This January, she performed several duet pieces at a concert in Sedalia, Missouri with Professor Tony Caramia of Eastman School of Music.
Emily has a variety of other interests which include playing violin in her school orchestra, ballet, reading, drawing, biking and playing lacrosse.
